Lanzarote airport transfers
The most northeasterly of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote is a deservedly spectacular tourist destination and part of the country of Spain. Lanzarote is famed for its glorious coastline and sandy beaches, which are both clean and extremely inviting. The many beaches of Lanzarote have long been amongst the island’s most popular tourist attractions, together with an unusual volcanic landscape, and a number of appealing towns and villages.
Lanzarote is also known for its stunning weather, which is warm and sunny throughout the year, making Lanzarote the perfect place to escape cold and wet winters. Much of Lanzarote has been greatly influenced by famous local artist, César Manrique, who is directly responsibly for many of Lanzarote’s most famous landmarks and sights.
Lanzarote is situated just 79 miles off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The island is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 miles (20 km) wide, making it the fourth largest island in the Canaries.
Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 21°C in January to 29°C in August. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination.
As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as ‘lunar’ or ‘Martian’. The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions.
Amongst the many stunning Volcanic features of Lanzarote is the longest Volcanic Tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel, which is over 7 km long and includes the La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.
Despite the Volcanic nature of the island, Lanzarote has several beautiful white beaches such as at Playa Blanca and Papagayo.
Local authority regulations on the amount and style of development mean that there is no billboard advertising and no high rise buildings in Lanzarote (with the exception of the Grand Hotel in Arrecife).
There are plenty of bars, clubs and restaurants in Lanzarote to keep most people happy.
The busiest bars and clubs in Lanzarote are found at the ‘Avenida de las Playas’ in Puerto del Carmen, however there are bars and discos in all of the main resorts. Puerto del Carmen has something for everyone with its gorgeous restaurants in the picturesque Old Town, through to its throbbing centre on The Strip.
Arrecife the capital is where you can sample more of the Spanish way of life than the other three resorts. Arrecife is also the home to Lanzarote Airport, and so it is here that you can get flights to Lanzarote. With its multitude of tapas bars, restaurants, and regular community events.
Costa Teguise is the oldest and most established resort, and has beautiful beaches, as well as perfect conditions for windsurfers. It also has a very wide selection of places to eat and drink – and is easily accessible from the airport. Costa Teguise is a true family resort with friendly venues and entertainment for everyone.
Playa Blanca is the newest resort on the Island, and the fastest growing. With its picturesque seafront, and stunning Rubicon Marina, Playa Blanca is a gentle and civilized town – perfect for families and couples. Don’t miss the Papagayo Beaches, considered amongst the best in Spain. Just a little North of Playa Blanca is the tiny village of El Golfo, with its famous fish restaurants overlooking the sea.
Timanfaya is probably the best well known of all visitor attractions, with trips up through the volcanoes and views across the Island . There is also a demonstration of the one volcano that is a little more than dormant. Watch as they pour a cup of water down into the hole & a jet of steam shoots up into the air. You can sample food cooked over the heat as a fitting end to this breathtaking trip.
Evening is a time for wining and dining at any of the island’s fabulous bars, cafes or restaurants. Lanzarote’s evening entertainment choices are as diverse as could be, so you will be sure to find something to please you. And the good thing is – the entertainment is usually free. Live music, stand-up comedy, clubs, sports bars and family venues abound here – you’re sure to find something to while away the hours, whilst keeping everyone happy.
Lanzarote Airport is where your holiday begins.
